How to Find a Curved Boat Windshield Replacement
INTRODUCTION
Need to replace your curved boat window or windshield? You’re in the right place.
Bell Plastics has been making among other things, custom boat windows and windshields since 1978. We are expert boat glass fabricators and know a thing or two about the process.
Read on to learn more about choosing the right material, cost, preparation, shipping and more.
THINGS TO CONSIDER
Picking The Right Material
Typically, boat windows are made of acrylic or polycarbonate. Acrylic windows normally last 10-15 years, however we often see acrylic boat windshields that have been in service for 30-40 years.
Cleaning acrylic boat windows is much easier due to its harder surface.
On the other hand, acrylic is known to break easier because the material is stiffer and more dense than Polycarbonate.
What We Need
Do not throw away your old window parts! If you already have, please see Custom Boat Window Replacement Planning: Preparation.
We will use your old window and parts to create a template that will be used to make the new window.
Be sure to send us the frame, bracket, gasket and as much of the old glass as possible.
